Anyone know if there is anywhere to get a winch looked at in the Moncton area? Mine could well be toast but if it was fixable I'd rather do that than fork out for a new one.
Thx

What's wrong with it? There isn't much to them. Motor, couple solenoids and a switch.

I used to service Superwinch in my last job,but they dont do them any more, I dont thenk that Superwinch has a service on the east coast at all.
What kind of winch is it, what is it doing or not doing. Biggest problem I used to see was the brushes would either burn the wire off or get stuck in the brush holder, sometimes the magnet on the motor would get a crack or fall off the casing.
But if it is a gear problem it is a bigger issue, it maybe that the planatery gears have pulled the teeth off of the gear(alumi) that it rotates in.
The only place to get parts is probly form the company of said winch.
Hope this helps

The motor doesn't turn at all. It looks like toasty brushes to me. The plastic end cap got cracked and there is some corrosion in there. Gears look good but what do I know.. It's a champion. (costco special) its about 8 years old so it really doesn't owe me anything. Should have picked up that cheap Superwinch Princess Auto had on sale two weeks ago but Horsman has been getting all my cash lately ;)

I wonder if there is such thing as a rebuild kit available for it? Any idea Del? I have read a few articles in mags where they rebuild those old warn winches with a kit from warn.
I was wondering if that was you Tim! Welcome to the forum.

I dont think you will find anything for a champion,I would say you have been very lucky to get 8 years out of it, maybe post it up looking for parts or to sell for parts and get another one.
I am running the keeper 9500 from PA and it pulls hard, have had no problem so far, been a year, and it goes on sale from time to time.and Crappy has the 8500 Superwinch on sale pretty often, and they work pretty well also.
